Holographic stickers work best when the artwork is planned around the material. The vinyl already has a rainbow shine, so colour choice, contrast, and white ink setup all affect how readable and polished the final sticker looks.
Why colour choice matters
Holographic vinyl is already bold. The way your colours interact with the shimmering surface can make a design feel bright and dimensional, but it can also make fine details harder to read if there is not enough contrast.
The aim is to choose colours that work with the holographic effect, while keeping important artwork clear.
Colours that work well on holographic stickers
- Blues and purples: These colours pair naturally with the rainbow effect and can create a cosmic, dreamy, or underwater feel.
- Reds and pinks: Warm colours can stand out strongly against the cooler holographic shine.
- Greens: Good for fresh, natural, sci-fi, or bright graphic styles.
- Black and dark colours: Best for outlines, logos, and text because they keep detail readable over the shifting background.
White ink and spot holographic effects
White ink can be used on holographic vinyl to block the holographic effect behind selected parts of your design. This helps logos, text, faces, light colours, and detailed artwork look more solid while other areas can still shine through.
White ink, opaque areas, and spot holographic effects require special file setup and can add cost. If you want controlled holographic reveals or selective white ink, please contact us for a custom quote before ordering or include clear notes with your artwork upload.
Metallic ink
We do not currently offer metallic ink printing. Holographic material already gives the sticker a metallic rainbow effect, so most designs do not need metallic ink to feel premium or reflective.
Using transparency
Areas without white ink will let the holographic surface show through. This can be a great way to create shine, movement, and depth in selected parts of the design.
If the whole design is printed without a white ink layer, lighter colours may look more transparent and the holographic pattern will show through more strongly. This can be a great effect when planned intentionally, but it may not suit every logo or artwork style.
Quick tips
- Use bold, high-contrast colours for important artwork.
- Keep text and fine details dark where possible.
- Use white ink behind areas that need to look solid or more opaque.
- Leave areas without white ink where you want the holographic vinyl to show through.
- Contact us for a custom quote if your design needs selective white ink or a specific spot holographic setup.
